The Artist
Miaojun
From silence, to a world within. Born 1987 in Humen, Guangdong. Deaf at two, brush in hand at three — when the world went quiet, ink became the way he speaks.
The thirty years since have been one unbroken road: four years of fine-art training at the Shanghai School for Deaf Youth; ten thousand miles reading the wordless book of the world; in 2007, admission to the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University to study art appraisal and management; then visits to over a hundred Buddhist masters and artists, encouraged by their inscriptions, proving the Way through art; founding and leading the Fortune People Art Center — from one who was pitied, to one who is respected.
He follows the Sixth Patriarch Huineng's wisdom of 'seeing one's true nature,' painting arhats and writing sutras — every stroke is practice. The work is quiet, yet it has strength: leaving a quiet place for those who see it.
